"Stranger Danger" Kids Seminar - 05/24/08

Team Tooke will be hosting a Free "Stranger Danger" Seminar for children ages 3 and up on Saturday, May 24th from 4pm - 5pm. This Seminar is open to the public, so feel free to bring you children in to learn ways to keep themselves safe.

Diamondback Judo at the 2008 Paralympics - 04/26/08

Diamondback Judo's Jordan Mouton won the U.S. Paralympic Trials for Judo this Saturday in Northglenn, CO. She moved up 2 weight classes when her 57kg weight class was cancelled. Jordan challenged Lisamaria Martinez for the only US female spot going to the 2008 Paralympics beating her twice; once with a pin, and another time with an O Soto Gari for Ippon. Congratulations Jordan.

Team Tooke Seminar and Belt Promotion - 04/27/08

Team Tooke will be having a Belt Promotion and In-House Seminar on Sunday, April 27th. Team Tooke students are welcome to bring friends and family to participate or jus to watch. We look forward to seeing you there.

New Striking/Grappling Kids Program - 04/15/08

Team Tooke is proud to announce the start of a brand new kids program! This new and exciting program will include curriculum from Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Jud, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our goals is to provide an avenue for kids to participate in both striking and grappling arts. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday. The first class will begin Tuesday, April 15th and we will be offering classes for 2 different age groups. The first class of the day will begin at 4:30pm and end at 5:00pm. The age group will be 4-6 year olds. The next class will begin at 5:00pm and last until 5:45pm. This class will be for kids ages 7-12 years. The current kids program will remain the same; we are just adding another great program on different days. Thanks to everyone for all of your support.

Will and Brandon Win NAGA Worlds - 04/05/08

Will and Brandon Lorenz both recently won the NAGA Worlds grappling tournament held in New Jersey. This is arguably the biggest grappling tournament in the United States and these guys really showed 'em how we roll down here in Texas. Congratulations guys!

Travis Wins Big in Florida NAGA - 03/15/08

We would like to congratulate our very own Travis Tooke for his recent victories in Florida at the NAGA grappling tournament. Travis won 1st place in No-Gi Advanced division and the Black Belt Gi Division this weekend, submitting all of his opponents.

Team Tooke Rocks Vegas!!! - 02/16/08

Team Tooke had a big showing in Las Vegas this past weekend. We Brought 3 competitors and came home with five 1st place awards. Miguel Castro (white belt) had a tough fight in the no-gi division losing a close match on points to a blue belt. But like a true competitor he was able to come back in the gi division to take home the gold with a beautiful arm bar from the mount in the final. Chris Bailey (new blue belt) ran through his divisions (both gi and no-gi) submitting nearly every opponent he faced with a barrage of transitions and attacks. Keep a look out for this guy, he has a bright future ahead of him. To top the day off, Team Tooke head instructor Travis Tooke won both his weight divisions as well as the absolute division (all weights), submitting all but one opponent. In the Final of the Absolute, Travis fought a heavier Brazilian Black Belt and was able to out score the tough opponent to take home the N.A.G.A. absolute championship belt! Congratulations to all these guys and we look forward to seeing you compete again real soon.

Yves Edwards Gets Big K.O. In Miami This Weekend!!! - 02/16/08

Team Tooke student Yves Edwards won his fight this past weekend in beautiful fashion at the Elite XC. Yves was taken down early in the fight but managed to keep his composure and secure a dominant position on his opponent using some of the guard tricks we have been working on with him here at the academy. After a near submission by Yves, the two fighters were brought back to their feet. Yves opponent secured a near single leg takedown but Yves defended perfectly and delivered one of the most memorable knockouts in MMA history! Congrats again Yves! Just one more step up on you way to the top.

Travis Tooke Leg Lock Seminar February 24th

Our next in-house seminar will be held on Sunday, February 24th and it will be a "leg lock" only seminar. Everyone is invited and all Definitive Martial Arts members will be pay only $30 (that's half off the regular price!). Don't forget to register for this incredible seminar. We will cover techniques such as straight ankle locks, knee bars, toe holds, heel hooks and more setups and combinations that you can imagine. Bring your note pad, and get ready to learn.

Lone Star Classic Judo Tournament Results

We are very pleased to report great results for our Diamondback Judo Club at the Lone Star Classic Judo Tournament, held on February 2nd in Hurst, Texas.
In the men's senior Brown/Black-Belt division, Denny Yu (U-100Kg) and Jaime Lazcano (U-90Kg) fought hard to place 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Lauren Brown took 1st place, and a $200 cash prize, in the women's U-70Kg category.
In the novice division Kirill Bogatchev placed 2nd after an impressive performance against several more highly ranked opponents. We look forward to his continued success in the future.

Belt Promotions

Congratulations to Joel Sturgeon on his recent promotion to the rank of Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Joel has been a great asset to Team Tooke and is one of the most technical grapplers around. He is a great instructor as well as practitioner and we're all very proud.
And big congrats also to new Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belts Fred Bingham and Tom McCluster. These two have been on a great path for the past year and this is just the beginning. Great work guys.

Congratulations to Zack, Victoria and Jordan

Congratulations are in order for some of our Diamondback Judo students. Zack Godbold earned Gold at the USA Judo Junior Olympics, placing 1st in the 66k division in San Antonio. He is now ranked #1 in the nation in his age group. He also earned Bronze at the International Judo competition in Florida in the Junior division.

Victoria Heckwine, age 12, placed 2nd in the USA Judo Junior Olympics in San Antonio.

And Jordan Mouton, a Brown Belt at Diamondback Judo, placed 5th at the worlds Peraolympics in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is vying for the 2008 Peraolympics in Bejing.

Travis Tooke Seminar 8/5/20007

Team Tooke will be hosting a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu seminar on Sunday, August 5th from noon to 3pm. The cost of this great day of training is just $40! Each instructor from Team Tooke will be teaching a portion of the seminar and will be answering any questions for either gi or no-gi. Congratulations Zack!

Congratulations to Zack Godbold on his impressive performance this past weekend at the USJA Judo National Championships. Zack(age 16), took home the gold in the 16-17 year old division. He then stepped up to the 18-20 year old division and won the silver. Congrats again Zack, keep it coming! 7/09/2007

Swedish Judo Team Visits DMA

A Swedish Judo team stopped in for some training on Thursday, June 21st. It was a really great experience for everyone involved. We had a great time training with a group with so much to offer. When it came time for instruction, the class was split into two groups for some cross-cultural training. Team Tooke's instructors taught the Swedish team, and the Swedish team's instructors taught our team. We were really disappointed that they could only stay one day, but we were glad they came.

Congrats to Jace Pitre

12/10/06- Congrats to Team Tooke purple belt Jace Pitre on his awesome performance at Grapplers Quest in Las Vegas. Jace dominated his first opponent on points and quickly tapped out his second to secure a spot in the finals. There he faced the always game Ryan Hall. Jace was doing very well until he was caught in a heel hook and forced to tap. Look forward to many more big wins in the future for this guy.

3/19/06-Congratulations to Tom Dinklidge for his promotion to Brown Belt. Tom has worked very hard and put in a-lot of mat time over the past year and it shows. Keep an eye out for this guy in the not so distant future to be making the move to black belt. Way to go Tom!
