Drills Class - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Many people believe that the biggest difference between Black Belts and lower belts is that the Black Belts know more techniques and are therefore better. This is just not true. The Purple or Brown Belt may know almost as many techniques as the Black Belt. And, while a black belt may very well know more technique than a lower level belt, what sets the Black Belt apart is their ability to execute the technique with fluid ease. A Black Belt's (a legitimate black belt) techniques come much more natural to them because of the time spent drilling the movement. They don't have to think through the steps of what they are doing. The give their body a simple command, "do an armbar", and they perform it.

This is why drills are so important. They take the large movements of a technique and make them natural through skillful repetition. By drilling these core movements they become smother, tighter and second nature. Most of what the Black Belt does is not conscious thought, but natural movements that best fit the situation at hand.

In our drills class you will learn well thought out drills that will drastically improve your game. The drills class revolves around a year long schedule, like our advanced Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. There is a theme that changes every six weeks. During these themes we cover Side Attacks, Side Escapes, Closed Guard Attacks, Open Guard, and Passing the Guard among other positions and transitions.

The drills class doesn't focus solely on the techniques but, rather we break the techniques down into their core movements, those movements that need to be fluid to pull off the technique against an advanced opponent.
