Yves was taken down early in the fight but managed to keep his composure and secure a dominant position on his opponent using some of the guard tricks we have been working on with him here at the academy. After a near submission by Yves, the two fighters were brought back to their feet. Yves opponent secured a near single leg takedown but Yves defended perfectly and delivered one of the most memorable knockouts in MMA history! Congrats again Yves! In the men's senior Brown/Black-Belt division, Denny Yu (U-100Kg) and Jaime Lazcano (U-90Kg) fought hard to place 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Lauren Brown took 1st place, and a $200 cash prize, in the women's U-70Kg category. In the novice division Kirill Bogatchev placed 2nd after an impressive performance against several more highly ranked opponents. We look forward to his continued success in the future. Zack Godbold earned Gold at the USA Judo Junior Olympics, placing 1st in the 66k division in San Antonio. He is now ranked #1 in the nation in his age group. He also earned Bronze at the International Judo competition in Florida in the Junior division.Victoria Heckwine, age 12, placed 2nd in the USA Judo Junior Olympics in San Antonio. And Jordan Mouton, a Brown Belt at Diamondback Judo, placed 5th at the worlds Peraolympics in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is vying for the 2008 Peraolympics in Bejing. Congrats again Zack, keep it coming! 7/09/2007Swedish Judo Team Visits DMAA Swedish Judo team stopped in for some training on Thursday, June 21st. It was a really great experience for everyone involved. We had a great time training with a group with so much to offer. When it came time for instruction, the class was split into two groups for some cross-cultural training. Team Tooke's instructors taught the Swedish team, and the Swedish team's instructors taught our team.
