One of the toughest event in all of Brazil for Brazilian Jiu jitsu is the Rio Open which took place from July 31st-August 3rd, 2014. Cameron Graves embraced the challenge like the warrior that he is and stepped out to compete against some of the toughtest Purple Belts on earth. Cameron was able to defeat his first opponent with beautiful technique. In his second match, Cameron was losing right up until the last 30 seconds of the match. This is where Heart took over and Cameron scrambled to score a 4 point Back Mount and secure the win by 1 point! It was incredible and really showed how tough this kid really is. In the 3rd round Cameron's win streak came to an end as he lost on points to a very smart and technical grappler. This experience has made Cameron both a better competitor and coach.
Professor Travis competed in the Black Belt division and in his first match was able to quickly mount his opponent and win via Ezekiel Choke in just over a minute of competing! In the second match, Professor ravis fought a very tough grappler and by the time the clock hit 0 the score was a dead tie: 6x6 on points, 2x2 on advantages and 2x2 on negative points...it couldn't get any closer. Unfortunately, the decision went to his opponent and Professor Travis was not able to advance to the quarter finals.
Congrats to these 2 guys for representing in Rio de Janeiro
